Let Me Introduce You To… R J Wevill
As part of this journal I’m going to introduce you to some of the people I work with (or have worked with) on various projects. I have my trusted list of preferred contractors and service providers, all of whom I know from personal experience, have worked alongside, are local and are extremely good at what they do.
I’m going to start with my first port of call for building work: R J Wevill, a firm of builders established in 1952 and based in Lifton on the Devon/Cornwall border. The name Rodney Wevill is probably going to be well known to many local people as he’s been around a while (I’m sure he won’t mind my saying that) and covers a very wide area in the South West. He’s a South West award winner of the Federation of Master Builders and his work is extensive and thorough, always finished to a very high and exacting standard.
As well as the fairly obvious new build, extension and renovation type of work he also specialises in traditional building materials, involving him in work on listed buildings and church repairs (most recently at Broadwoodwidger Church in Devon) as well as disabled facility works. All aspects of building work are covered (electrical, plumbing, decorating, roofing, windows, doors) so he can provide a comprehensive building service. Having said all that, he’s still happy to take on smaller, one-off jobs – he doesn’t rule anything out.
The photos show some of Rodney’s recent projects. From left to right: the before and after on a cottage in North Devon; about to start work in Launceston, Cornwall; part of a renovation on a holiday-let complex in Devon.
