The Wharf in Tavistock enjoys a very loyal following in the South West and so it should; as an arts venue it’s home to some fantastic live music as well as live screenings and films.
I saw Benedict Cumberbatch in a live screening of Hamlet some time ago, something I simply wouldn’t have done if I’d had to go to London. Tonight saw Germaine Greer speaking passionately about conservation in her Women for Life on Earth tour – with just a dash of feminist fervour thrown in as you’d expect. A very natural, fluent speaker, she kept the audience enthralled for the evening. The fact that this venue can attract such a big name is testament to its reach.
